Wide ring with fluid, polished surface and rippling texture inspired by the sometimes gentle, sometimes turbulent movement of sea water.
Artist's Notes: The creation of the Undertow Ring became a leading force in the development of this body of work. It was crafted in response to the very first piece of jewellery I ever made in sterling silver. A heavy, wonky ring band informed only by the naiveté of my hands without a formal design concept or desired outcome, the ring became a talisman that heralded a new chapter in my life.
I had worn that ring every day for almost six years, and it always received attention by strangers - but it was poorly crafted by a novice maker and I felt ashamed of it even though I had a fiercely sentimental attachment to it.
At the start of the development of this new body of work I felt an urgency to revisit it - exploring what made the form so compelling to others; what meaning I imbued into the piece that made it so intimate to me - and ultimately, to create a new version of it that would celebrate a history and a future of my own making.
It is a delight and a privilege to be able to share it with you.
This ring is hand-crafted to order. Allow approximately 2 weeks for production.
