THE BESPOKE PROCESS

A custom or bespoke piece of jewellery is a conversation. It begins with your intention and unfolds into tangible form—hand sculpted with intention and designed to endure.

Whether you’re marking a milestone, expressing a personal story, or creating a future heirloom, I offer a warm and collaborative process that honours the emotional and material significance of every commission.

Bespoke bookings for pre-Christmas delivery are now closed

Bespoke projects booked in October will deliver February 2026.
Bespoke projects booked in November and December will deliver March 2026.

HOW IT WORKS

Custom and bespoke projects typically follow this four-part rhythm:

Consultation

After submitting your enquiry, you’ll be invited to complete a short questionnaire outlining your vision, preferred materials, timeline, and any symbolic or gemstone preferences.

Design

Your submission will be reviewed within three business days, after which we’ll begin the collaborative design process. If required, I’ll assist with gemstone sourcing. Once the direction is confirmed and any stones selected, the project moves into production.

Creation

If your piece includes gemstones, they’ll be acquired for your project. I’ll then hand-carve the design in jeweller’s wax according to your specifications. When complete, you’ll receive photos for approval, confirming the model reflects the agreed design. The project then proceeds to casting in precious metal.

Completion

Your wax model is cast into precious metal, any stones are set, and the piece is hand-finished. You'll be sent an image of your completed piece when it's ready to be delivered.

Your finished adornment is then carefully packaged and sent to you.

TIMELINES

Outside of time in transit once complete, you should allow:

  • 6 weeks for custom adaptations of existing designs
  • 12 weeks for fully bespoke creations

Additional time may be required for international stone sourcing, extended communication across time zones, or during peak periods such as the lead-up to the holiday season. If you have a specific deadline in mind, you’re encouraged to mention this when enquiring.

BUDGET & PAYMENT STRUCTURE

Pricing is individually tailored based on materials, complexity, and scale. To honour the time, care, and creative depth each piece deserves, bespoke projects have a minimum spend of:

  • Sterling Silver (no gemstones) from AUD $800
  • 9ct Gold (no gemstones) from AUD $1,500
  • 18ct Gold (no gemstones) from AUD $3,000

Projects involving gemstones or more complex carving will be quoted for accordingly.

All custom and bespoke projects follow a three-part milestone payment process:

  1. 20% non-refundable deposit to begin the wax carving phase
  2. Upon wax model completion and re-quote based on the current precious metal market rates, a second payment is made to reach a 50% total non-refundable deposit and move your project into casting
  3. Final balance + shipping costs due on project completion

This structure ensures transparency and accommodates fluctuations in gold pricing.

What to Consider Before You Enquire

To help shape your project—and receive a clear and timely quote—please consider the following before submitting your enquiry:

Metal Options

  • Sterling Silver
  • 9ct Yellow, White, or Rose Gold
  • 14ct Yellow Gold
  • 18ct Yellow, White, or Rose Gold

Gemstone

  • Select from my curated Gemstone Gallery
  • Or request a stone to be sourced for an AUD $75 fee, redeemable against your project

Ring Size

If commissioning a ring, a precise ring size is essential.

Professional sizing is strongly recommended, as resizing is often limited due to the intricacy of textures and form.

Design Direction

All bespoke pieces are created in my signature artistic style. Browse Past Works or explore the core collections for inspiration.

Budget

Please ensure your expectations align with the minimums outlined above.

Bespoke work not only reflects the value of the chosen precious materials, but also the time, care, and unique nature of each piece.

It is my pleasure and my privilege to craft for you.

If you have a clear idea of your project’s requirements and are ready to begin, you are warmly invited to submit a bespoke enquiry.

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What's the difference between a Custom and Bespoke piece?

A Custom piece adapts an existing design from my Ready To Wear or Ceremonial collections with minor modifications (change of metal, addition/removal of gemstones, change of gemstone, engraving, etc).

A Bespoke piece involves more significant creative development, resulting in something meaningfully distinct. While it may still carry the essence of past work, it becomes its own form through major material, structural, or conceptual changes.

What if the bespoke prices aren't in my budget?

Customisations to existing designs allows for flexibility and uniqueness without a minimum spend.

You’re also welcome to explore the Ready to Wear catalogue, which may align better with your budget.

Can you recreate a piece I saw on your Instagram?

Some past designs may still be available as custom orders. Others are one-of-a-kind and not able to be reproduced. You’re welcome to reference previous works as inspiration when submitting your enquiry.

Can you make a piece inspired by a design I found somewhere else?

No. I do not copy or reproduce the work of other designers. All custom and bespoke pieces are created within the design language of my studio.
If you supply reference images of pieces made by someone else, they should serve only as practical examples—such as general form, gemstone colour or cut—not as requests to replicate another artist’s work.

I have a short deadline for my custom or bespoke piece, do you do rush jobs?

No. While some custom projects may take less than six weeks, and some bespoke projects fewer than twelve, rushing a piece places significant stress on my studio.

As part of the complete production process, I work with a series of trusted partners, such as international gemstone dealers, casting houses, and gemstone setters, who each have their own schedules and production and delivery timeframes.

Your patience and understanding help me ensure every piece receives the quality, care, and attention it deserves.

I'm based in Melbourne, can I come visit your studio to discuss my project?

I run a closed studio and do not take consultations or client visits on-site.

However if you are based in Melbourne and would prefer to meet in person to discuss your project, face-to-face consultations can be arranged. An initial in person consultation may be beneficial if you are supplying your own heirloom jewellery or gemstones for remodelling.

What is the best metal to choose for my project?

For information on the differences between metal alloys visit the Meet Your Metals page.

Can you incorporate my own gold into the project?

This is not currently a service that I can offer in my studio, however I can offer a refining (recycling) credit from the existing gold towards your new piece.

Can I supply my own gemstone/s for the project?

I love working with client’s stones. They are always full of history and sentiment that ultimately enriches the finished piece of jewellery.

However—because I did not personally source the stone—I cannot guarantee it for defects during manufacturing. If you wish to bring your own gemstone/s to a Custom or Bespoke project you must agree to the provision that I accept no liability for the stone whilst in my care.

Only certain stones in good condition are suitable for re-purposing. An AUD$25 assessment fee per client-supplied gemstone applies; assessments are performed by an independent gemologist to confirm suitability for use.

Is my commissioned piece exclusive to me?

Most custom and bespoke pieces are developed as part of a collaborative process with my clients, but the resulting design remains the intellectual property of the Alicia Hannah Naomi studio.
I reserve the right to revisit, adapt, or recreate any design I've made before again in the future.
